Automated Halloween

Today in our lovely little village Kids were Treating. Not trick or treating because lets face it these little ones could barely get out "Thanks", not for lack of prodding by guardians, but merely because of age and shyness. The one thing that I was amazed at though was a talking candy bag. All you had to do was press a button and it said "Trick or Treat" and then once you go the candy you press the button again and it said "Thank you" and then press it one more time and it said "Thank you" all in this creepy Halloween voice.

All I have say is if you are going to go that "high tech" with things why don't you just send me some spam e-mail or shoot me a text.

In all fairness the blue power ranger was very nice and cute and even said "thanks". But still a talking candy bag? REALLY?

little Indian call & High 5

So last night I was working on a quilting project on the couch and Todd was checking some thing on the Internet and Isabelle, perfect child that she is, was playing on the floor. All of a sudden I hear her making a different noise. Nothing alarming just funny- I looked down and there she was doing an "Indian call". I know that is probably terribly not PC- but it's the thing when you say "AHHHHHHHH" and you tap your mouth with your hand to change the sound. ( I know you are all doing this as you read this too.)
In truth Isabelle and I had been doing this where I would show her what to do and then she would say "aHHHHHH" and I would tap her mouth with my hand but last night there she is doing it all by herself! It was hilarious and wonderful.
Also in the realm of useful things that we have been teaching Isabelle last week she learned "High 5". I'm hoping the next thing she will get is how to Ollie on a skate board. I think it's important to teach her these basic life skills early. Talk about coping mechanisms, she is off to a great start.

Snow and other falling thoughts

This weekend Todd and I spent the night at a friends house and reconnected with my college friends. We had a wonderful time. It's always great to get together with people who you haven't seen in years and it feels like not time has past.
Yesterday on the way home it started to snow! Nothing stuck to the ground however it was COLD and most definitely snow. Also Just now outside my window I could see a few flurries...NO GOOD that means winter is on the way. \
With winter comes heavier clothes and thoughts of how we will get everything done before Christmas. So this year I have decided to get a head start. I've got quite a few gifts already bought and stored away. Which is a great feeling. However I decided to be a little crafty for a few gifts this year. So I have all of the supplies I however need to get started. But I'm also one of those people that I can't bring myself to work on a project until the house is clean. SO here we go this week we will clean and clean with the hopes that Saturday and Sunday could be very productive when it comes to getting fun and crafty things done.

As for the house things are coming along. I will post pictures of the new door soon. Also last week Todd put on a new cellar door outside. It's a little rusty but we got it for free and it's in good shape otherwise. It needs to be painted and then it will look like brand new!

So with a good attitude and a long too do list I head off into this busy week. Wish me luck!

Dream Job

I've also decided that I want to be a stay at home mom who has time to quilt and sew and knit... I'm going to try working on that.

Busy Busy Weekend

We made progress on the house this weekend and many other things. First of all and most importantly Todd and his brothers and a friend put a patio door in the back bedroom this weekend. They also put in a header for where the eventual opening between the living room and "bedroom" will be. This is great progress! we can now talk about insulating and sheet rocking in the bedroom. Which none of that will happen until we find our fixtures for the bathroom. However knowing this is going to be a slow going process I'm on my way out of town this weekend. So Todd will be a bachelor... hopefully a hard working bachelor!

Note: I will put of these photos when I get them from Andrea because of course my camera battery died on Saturday afternoon. However it didn't die before we took a ton of cute pictures of my niece and Iz with the pumpkins. I will put those up as well when I charge the battery.

My Mom and I also cut out the pieces for Isabelle's bee costume for Halloween. My sister in law and mother were going to sew it together on Sunday. I haven't heard yet how that went- but good I hope! It should be pretty dang cute. So for all who live close plan on a little buzzing on Halloween. As I'm typing this I'm making a mental list of all those we will have to visit on Halloween! Good thing it's a Friday night!

So instead of continuing to tell you about the other pictures I'm going to stop here. Sigh and make mental notes of all the things I need to do before I leave for Chicago this weekend with a friend and Isabelle!

Rainy Day

I hope your morning drive to work or to where ever (maybe Colorado) was just a beautiful as mine! Even though it was raining the gray sky background the trees were on fire! The Reds, Oranges and Yellows reminded me that there is a season and a time for everything. I know it's hokey but there is. Amidst news of the Stock market falling below 8,000 (not that it means anything to me right now...) I took a moment to look around and enjoy the fall colors. There is a time when we all have to struggle individually and even as a collective whole so that we might appreciate the good times and things that we have.

Below you will see a photo of the Rocky Mountains (foothills I think). I have a friend who is driving out there and she sent me this photo from her phone. What a beautiful site- the sun rising on mountains.

FIRST PIGGIES!

Today when I picked up Isabelle from day care she had her first piggie tails in. There is no joy like that of when you can finally put something in your little girls hair to indicate that yes she may wear blue but she is a GIRL!

Star Bellied Sneetches

When changing Isabelle into her pj's one night we found a star on ours. A Gerber melt away had made its way under the onesie when it missed her mouth and ended up on her belly button. I laughed endlessly!

She said it... you heard it!

So last night Isabelle slept through the night. I'm not sure if it was that her teeth were finally not hurting her or the fact that she wore herself out playing with the puppies at my parents house.

I woke up at 5 am with a start realizing that she hadn't woke up once last night. Which was a relief for my wonderful husband who needed to sleep off his butter hang-over from eating 145 shrimp at red lobster last night. So I tip toed in her room to make sure she was still breathing... she was and when I went to cover her up I acidently touched her foot and she awoke. So we had a bottle and then she went back to sleep and didn't wake until 8:00 am!!! It was wonderful!

Then we were having family cuddle time because it was Todds day off and she say up and looked at us and said "mama n dada!" I looked at Todd and said "did you hear that?!?!?!" He said "Yes I did but you also thought she said book 3 months ago." Which for the record she did say "Booh Kha" 4 times in a row while holding a book and my dad heard it as well. So what if she hasn't said it since then. It just didn't stick, she'll say it again some time. Now that we have "Mama n Dada" down we are going to work on other family members... so be ready to take pictures this weekend everyone!

SLEEP...Elusive Sleep

Is there a way to make a 9 month old sleep- besides knocking them over the head or giving them alcohol - TODD!
